They had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.He enjoined them, "Watch out, guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod."
Only one loaf: It happens just after the multiplication of the bread. Now, the miracle is over, the only ONE LOAF that remains is JESUS himself.
The leaven of the Pharisees: In the context of the BREAD, Jesus warns us about the leaven of the pharisees: it can be the religious fundamentalism, religious intolerance, or sheer selfishness covered up by tricky religiousness.
The leaven of Herod: yeh..it seems to the eternal tempation of Power & authority.
the leaven of the Pharisees + the leaven of Herod = hypocrisy 'sans pareil'
