Down To The River To Pray:Alison Krauss

Yesterday, i visited Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade ( Portneuf, Québec, Canada) ,
a place so famous for ice-fishing.
It was a new experience for me to drive on the river.
But another wonder co-occured.
As we were on the river, riding slow on the ice bed,
the car radio sang a beautiful melody.
Its verses grew upon me so quick... even without my notice.
it`s two lines reverbed in my mind....

`Let's go down, come on down,
............................................
Down in the river to pray.`

...and i was on the river, in all reality.

Later back at home, i heard an elder férer singing the same tune in his magestic french intonation.
So i hit the keybord and found out the song and here it is......

It`s Alison Krauss`s ``Down To The River To Pray``

lyrics:

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O sisters let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
O sisters let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O brothers let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
Come on brothers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

(- O fathers, O mothers, O sinners-)
