Everything is a miracle

"There are only two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

Two ancient Franciscan Capuchin manuscripts restored

Two manuscripts, believed to date back to the mid-1700s which form part of the collection at the Franciscan Capuchin Friary’s Central Library in Floriana have been restored thanks to financial support by Bank of Valletta.

The first manuscript titled Gozo Antico-Moderno e Sacro-Profano’, is thought to have been the first draft of the manuscript by Giovanni Pietro Agius de Soldanis, bearing the same title and dating back to 1746.

The restoration involved dismantling the manuscript, followed by cleaning and leaf casting. Through this process, the restorer repaired the holes in the pages by filling them with paper pulp, which was then pressed and dried, so that the page became whole again.

The second manuscript entitled ‘Apparato Cronologico’ (dated 1751) was by P Luigi Bartolo. It is directly related to the setting up of the Capuchin Order in Malta. The manuscript also includes a catalogue of the first Maltese Capuchin friars,. The same restoration process was applied in this case, although this particular manuscript required a higher level of intervention since it had been neglected for a long period of .

The Bank’s sponsorship was presented by Michael Galea, Head at CEO’s Office of Bank of Valletta to Fr Martin Micallef OFM Cap, Provincial Archivist of the Franciscan Capuchin Friary in Malta. (picture)

words punctured with silence

Unlike the common belief,
It is easy to be tolerant than to be accepting.
we tend to escape the surprises, with tolerance,
well-decked up with reasonableness and neutralization.

Being reasonable can be an Evasion- Mechanism .
( trying to be as evasive as the Holy spirit...)
However, i shall not cease from questioning myself.....about myself.

The hardest questions i have ever faced, never came from others.
It was all from within...
They were not on Cosmology or Epistemology,
but were all about my own Little Options.
Whenever i dared to ask myself: « why do you want it that way and not this way?»
Quite often, i touched silence.
That`s the reason, may be `J` wrote that my answers are «with words punctured with silences»
Now, i see clearly enough to accept that comment. Yes...i ACCEPT it

believe me, talking about Hegel`s Epistemology is far easier,
than answering about my own little preferences.
By avoiding surprises, i surprise myself...

experiencing the exigency

``The concern to keep the word of God distinct from every other word is such that,
sending his apostles out on mission, Jesus commands them not to greet anyone on the way. I experienced at my own expense that sometimes this commandment must be obeyed to the letter.``

The way of languages

Why some languages go from let to right, while others go other way?
I may need to have a little more to education on it.

But one thing is sure....
Jesus and his disciples wrote from from right to left, horizontal.
i love what they wrote
My mother writes left to right, horizontal.
i love what she write...
and, it seems, as if it is enough to know only that much....

Saying the right word....

Sometimes i think, the right words will make me feel great.
The skill to utter the right word, is all about your linguistic faculty and fluidity.
The way you use words depends to a great extent upon your inner personality.
But sadly, sometimes words limit themselves as words...
at such times i should be able to go deeper and further than the words....
yes, learning to go beyond the words is the best communication possible.
The depth beyond the words ......is LOVE.

As a thin thread that holds the web...

We all are sustained by some little hopes....
sometimes so fine as a thiny web-thread,
Which may not even withstand the mildest breeze.
but yet, we hope....

I envy you...

We envy each other...
If you agree with it or not, it happens.
It can be personal, professional, creative or in whatever name you label it.

I just write this not to tell you not to envy each other.
Some times it is just an another first step towards the personal empowerment.
But sometimes it just works the opposite, crippling the growth altogether.

we often evvy the other`s brighter side
that out-grows our expectaions or suites our dreams.
But there is an unseen side to it.
There exists an another `dark side` the we forget or refuse to see it.
It is essential to see the other side of the object of our `envy`.

That`s all....

Typical Quebecois humor.... ( no offence intended)

why peter`s boat sank so fast......
Because it was made of stone....
Jesus could have made it with wood....
were he not a fine carpenter too....?
then why did he made this well-informed mistake..?
Jesus are you listening....

Questions as Answers

It was quite amusing to find almost all of my questions were in fact, answers in themselves.
Almost all of our questions are answers,
but written in a disturbed order.
Get the order right , you get the answer right.
But it takes lot of patience and tolerance to master this puzzle.
When will i learn this trick, at least a bit of it, i wonder.
I am jealous of all of you out there, who have mastered this art already.
My jealousy tells you that, i admire you much for what you have made with your life...

lors d'un départ: before you are gone...

Normally, it will be an earful chatter about almost everything under the sun, and even sometimes above it.
It was always on things insignificant but had a great significance for  us.
All of a sudden, there was silence, creeping in bit by bit.... i knew it.
It is neither holy nor profane. Its we, the people who mould it either way.
I knew the growing silence was dense. When the words do not suffice,
we grow silent.

Sometimes we change even the continents and do not feel any thing,
But sometimes we shift from a  chair and feel the universe go upside down.
I know  you are having  such a change, which forces new priorities and possibilities,
While closing down many present ones.
But, it is change that makes people grow wide and deep.
I pray you grow wide as the heavens and as deep as the oceans.

now, i sit back and watch the snowflakes cover my window glass.
What it was all meant for us, not just for me alone, but for us, i dare to ask.
well!
we contributed, contradicted, confirmed, and even at times confused many little, fragile  things.
Those little and insignificant things that always grow in significance,
As it always happen in good friendships.

now, before you are gone,
i want to tell you this, that ``You Are Significant``
and i will not say `thank you,
because i know sometimes it is a parting word, so hauntingly final.

-----------------------------------------------------------
see you,
God Bless!

Down To The River To Pray:Alison Krauss

Yesterday, i visited Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade ( Portneuf, Québec, Canada) ,
a place so famous for ice-fishing.
It was a new experience for me to drive on the river.
But another wonder co-occured.
As we were on the river, riding slow on the ice bed,
the car radio sang a beautiful melody.
Its verses grew upon me so quick... even without my notice.
it`s two lines reverbed in my mind....

`Let's go down, come on down,
............................................
Down in the river to pray.`

...and i was on the river, in all reality.

Later back at home, i heard an elder férer singing the same tune in his magestic french intonation.
So i hit the keybord and found out the song and here it is......

It`s Alison Krauss`s ``Down To The River To Pray``

lyrics:

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O sisters let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
O sisters let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O brothers let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
Come on brothers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

(- O fathers, O mothers, O sinners-)

Inner peacemakers

Thousands of computers around the world, lost data yesterday due to a virus infection.
Now they say we need `e-peacemakers`.
Actually what we need is not `e-peacemakers` but INNER PEACEMAKERS
The world needs more and more individulas who can initiate and inspire peace.....

God in the wind...

We often speak of finding God in the unexpected places….
It is true, we know it with not a single doubt.
Mount Horeb and Mount Sinai for Moses,
Mild breeze for Isaiah
oaks of Mambre for Abraham
A stone for Jacob at Bethel

But the gospel also teaches us that we should anticipate the devil in the unexpected places too. The Narrative of the exorcism in the synagogue is a symbol of that.( Mk 1:21-28)
Devil in the abode of the Divine.
Beware…
to find the unexpected at the least expected places…….

Telling a lie

Whether you agree with or not, we often tell lies…
Sometimes we tell it to others.
But growing up has taught and refined us to restrain that habit to a greater extent.
But many times we lie to ourselves…
We hardly notice it.
Telling a lie to oneself is as grave as telling it to others.
We often lie in most delicate and intimate things of our life.
We lie about our feelings and expectations.
When I am asked ‘Do I hurt you?’, I should learn to be truthful.
I often fear that saying a candid ‘Yes’ may risk my reputation.
I should learn to value my ‘true self’ over the ‘expected self’.

The centurion and the Servant

He could understand that Jesus could command the sickness away. He understood Jesus as having genuine authority, just as he had it on his band of servants. That tremendous realization was lacking in Israel. That’s the reason why we still remember that gentle gentile and pray in the words he prayed.

Reading the spaces between...

We read what we like to read...
that much fine..but,
Most of the time, we make the mistake of reading what is not written.
sometimes we even go to the fearful extent of reading the empty spaces between the words...

The skill to read 'the spaces between' should never cripple our straight reading skills..
Because it is also a grace to read what is written and intended...
